JMT Quinaig
This contract was let out on a day rate as, apart from the end section of pitching, a formal survey was not the best option.
Instead, the client briefed us on what improvements were required and what their vision was, and it was up to us to then implement that using our knowledge and expertise.
The client wished for the finished path to retain a natural look but for the drainage and path surface to be improved to prevent the damaged area spreading any more.
To this end, we identified areas of concern where water crossing, or pooling on the path was the main issue and built drainage features to control this.
Other areas required the surface de-roughing and path realignment, either by resurfacing or by blocking.
Two burn crossings, that were almost unpassable in spate, had stone features built to allow passage and the bottlenecks that slowed the flow of water were removed.
At the far end of the work site, a new aggregate path was created through an area of boggy ground, this then led up to the heavily damaged slope where a section of stone pitched path was constructed.
All materials were bagged further up the mountain and then flown into site.
