Ben Nevis.
Towards the end of 2015 and into 2016, the Nevis Partnership contracted us to build one of two sections of work. Our contract was for the lower section from the junction with the track down to the Youth Hostel.
Ben Nevis path is extremely busy and the huge numbers in the more inclement weather would make path work nearly impossible on the narrow sections. For this reason winter was deemed the best time to work.
This presented a few problems, firstly, collecting stone from the scree slopes on Carn Dearg above 850m in full winter condition is no easy task, luckily we were fortunate to be able to recover all of our full bags before the weather made it impossible. The remainder had to be imported from Bonawe quarry as quarries that were closer were to the Ben were unsuitable.
The rest of the contract didn't present any real problems and we were able to finish on time, ready for the Easter rush.

Bagging and Helicopter lifts.
Before.
As can be seen from the photos below, the path had become very damaged in places. Pitching had collapsed, drains failed resulting in material being lost and the old cobbled path had deteriorated into a very uneven difficult walking surface.
